Alleged attempted murderer in court

THE man accused of attempting to murder a Warwick shop assistant in August remains behind bars.

John Joseph Beltrame had his matter briefly mentioned in the Warwick Magistrates Court yesterday.

He is accused of attempting to strangle the woman with an electrical cord before being disturbed by passers-by.

The 47-year-old was taken into custody shortly after the alleged attack on August 31.

Beltrame is due to remain behind bars until his next court appearance, which has been set for the same court on January 15.
