CEO to leave council

MAYOR Peter Blundell today announced that the council has entered into an arrangement with CEO Rod Ferguson to terminate his contract.

Cr Blundell said the termination of Mr Ferguson's contract was mutually accepted.

Cr Blundell said he wished Mr Ferguson all the best in his future endeavours and noted "the exemplary record of achievement"by the CEO.

"In the coming months Council is to introduce an organisational cultural program and carry out a full review of the corporate structure and thus it was felt that it was timely to cease his contract and this was mutually accepted,"he said.

Mr Ferguson said he had enjoyed the challenges of working with the Southern Downs Regional Council in the past eight years.

"Including those thrown up by the forced amalgamation and look forward to what the future might hold for me," he said.

Mayor Blundell said the council would embark on a recruitment program to attract a new CEO.
