WEARING their team shirt slogan, "Runners for Razzel" on their backs, 35 family members of the late Rae Twidale banded together and did something special for a woman known to them by many titles.

Immediate and extended family members attended the annual Gold Coast Marathon on Sunday in their runners to pay tribute to her, including Rae's nephew, Yeppoon's Jesse Hawke.

Jesse said half the family lived on the Capricorn Coast and the other on the Gold Coast and saw it as a great opportunity to do something special for Rae who died about 18 months ago from at type of leukaemia.

"It was great to see all of the family coming together and doing it together," Jesse said yesterday.

"I think she would be really proud of us. It was a really nice moment for us and it was for such a great cause," he said.

Jesse said he ran the 42km for the first time which he knocked over in four hours while other family members ran the 21km.

"We're hoping to make it an annual thing now and a get a few more of us in the 42km section," he said.
