Firebirds still in good spirits despite loss

The Mission Queensland Firebirds isn't a team that likes the 'easy' path, according to star shooter Romelda Aiken, who claims the birdies will advance to the preliminary final with a 'smile on our faces and a spring in our steps".

Posting on Instagram following the Firebirds 47-52 loss to the Melbourne Vixens in the major semi-final, Aiken assured fans and followers that the team was in good spirits and tough enough to rebound from the disappointment of the away loss.

They play the Magic in the preliminary final in Brisbane on Monday night and fans will need to get in quick to purchase tickets through Ticketek. Laura Geitz and Clare McMeniman are the Southern Downs connection in the Firebirds team.

" We still have a smile on our faces and a spring in our step, it is not over yet," Aiken said.

"We just need to have a good week at training, forget about the loss to the Vixens and focus on the game ahead of us against the Magic," she said.

Aiken's shooting partner Amy Wild said nerves played a big part in her team's recent performance against the Magic especially for herself and Verity Simmons, who both hit the court for the first time in finals netball.
