Former editors face hacking charges

EIGHT people, including the former editor of The Sun, Rebekah Brooks, will face charges over phone hacking, Britain's Crown Prosecution Service announced yesterday.

Brooks will face two charges, with one relating to the alleged accessing of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler's phone messages.

The British Prime Minister David Cameron's former spin doctor, Andy Coulson, is also accused in relation to allegedly hacking into Dowler's phone.

Also charged were the newspaper's former head of news, Ian Edmonson, Neville Thurlbeck, its former chief reporter, Stuart Kuttner, the managing editor, and former executives Greg Miskiw and James Weatherup.

A private investigator, Glenn Mulcaire, who was jailed in 2007 after admitting illegally intercepting messages of members of the Royal Household, was also charged.
