FRIENDS and colleagues of celebrity chef Matt Golinski have established a fund to help him recover from the tragedy.
Mr Golinski's wife Rachael Golinski and his daughters Sage, Willow and Starlia died in an horrific blaze at their Tewantin home on Boxing Day.
The well-known Noosa chef, described by friends as a devoted family man, remains in an induced coma at the Royal Brisbane Hospital after suffering third-degree burns to 40% of his body.
A regular guest chef on the Ready, Steady, Cook television show, Mr Golinski also runs a successful catering business, The Rolling Dolmade, with business partners Owen Exton and Tannille Maneylaws.
They decided to set up the recovery fund after being inundated with messages of support from clients, the national culinary world and people across Australia, most of them complete strangers.
"This past week has been extremely difficult for all those who know Matt and his family," Ms Maneylaws said.
"Although, thankfully, it now seems that Matt will survive this terrible ordeal, his road to recovery will unfortunately be a very long one.
"At the suggestion of one of our valued clients, a recovery fund has been set up to channel the overwhelming level of support and love that has been directed toward Matt and his family into a practical way of aiding his ongoing physical and emotional recovery."
Mr Exton said that the tight-knit restaurant and catering community had rallied behind Mr Golinski with offers of help from local and national restaurateurs and chefs to help kick start his recovery.
"We are hoping that by establishing the fund that when Matt is finally released from hospital he can focus on getting well, rather than worrying about financial matters," Mr Exton said.
"Given the enormity of his loss, we are all 100% committed to making sure that Matt knows he does not have to face the reality of his recovery alone.
"The level of kindness and support already offered to him by friends and strangers, along with what we hope will be a healthy recovery fund, will go a little way to giving him the courage and confidence to face the future."
