IT WAS fashions, fascinators and fun galore at the Central Motors Stanthorpe Cup at the weekend.

Punters gathered to watch the races and show off their best outfits as they cheered on their horses.

Stanthorpe Jockey Club president Neil Brunckhorst said the day went off without a hitch.

"Everything was perfect, magnificent,” he said.

"We had no problems at all and everything flowed smoothly.”

Mr Brunckhorst said it was great to see everyone getting involved with the day.

"The ladies were very well dressed, everyone was commenting about how well the women were dressed on Saturday,” he said.

"It adds a lot of colour and to the atmosphere, it makes for a better day I think.

"It was a great atmosphere out there.”

After the rain received over the past month, Mr Brunckhorst said the fields were perfect.

"The track was beautiful,” he said.

"We had a lot of favourable comments from the jockeys and trainers who said the track was magnificent, so that's really good feedback.”

There was no sight of rain on Saturday though, with perfect weather throughout the day.

"If you could order a day, that's just about what you would order; it was perfect weather,” Mr Brunckhorst said.

The horse races weren't the only important event on the day, with Fashions on the Field once again proving to be a popular event.

People lined up as they entered their classic, contemporary, couples and men's fashion looks in hopes of winning a prize.

The 2016/ 2017 Showgirls were also officially announced at the Cup, introducing themselves and their plans for the Quest.

The party kicked on after dark, when Lismore band Push took to the stage.

"The band was fantastic, very well received,” Mr Brunckhorst said.

"There was hundreds of people dancing until 8o'clock when the buses came and took them home when the band finished.”
