It’s a circus life for some

FOR most swinging through the air and living next to a pack of lions may not seem like ideal conditions to raise a child.

However for acrobats Brenda Gonzalez (Keira), Luis Qurioz (Valentino) and their daughter Keira there is no better place to call home.

"We can't stay home for more than a month or two," the Lennon Bros Circus contortionist Mrs Gonzalez said.

The big top has always been a shared passion for the Chilean couple, both fifth generation circus performers.

They were even married in the ring more than eight years ago.

"Always the circus," Mr Qurioz a bounce rope performer said.

The professional performers say they can't wait until they hear their names called at the coming shows.

"We love the claps," Mr Qurioz said.

Mrs Gonzalez said she lived for the applause, recalling a day when she was mistaken for Lady GaGa by a little boy.

"It was very funny," she laughed.

Their five-year-old daughter Keira Qurioz, named after her mother's stage name is also keen to join the family business.

She is already able to walk on her hands.

In doing so, Keira also follows in the footsteps (or hands) of her grandmother, also an aerial contortionist who specialised in swinging down ropes supported by only her hair.

When they are not performing, the family say they are like any other, spending time together in their mobile home.

Young Keira is educated through distance education with the other circus children.

Lessons are taught by a teacher who travels with the troop.

Mrs Gonzalez spends her time between set ups repairing all the costumes.
