Katie still recovering in hospital

THE accident in which Katie McKean (nee Ensbey) was hit and left unconscious is being investigated while the former Warwick woman remains in the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the Forensic Crash Unit was still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

She was unable to comment further on how Mrs McKean (pictured) was hit by a car while jogging last Thursday morning.

"The driver of the sedan involved in the incident is a 19-year-old Westlake woman," she said.

"At this stage there are no charges."

A family friend said there had been no real change in Mrs McKean's condition since the Daily News went to print on Saturday.

"(She has) multiple breaks including leg, ribs and vertebrae," the friend said.

"The swelling around her brain is still of concern and she is still in ICU."

The popular 25-year-old was hit at 10.30am and her pink runners and red iPod were the only identifying items on her at the time.

The family friend said Mrs McKean's husband Tom realised his wife was missing after he returned home that evening, with his search ending at the hospital.

Mrs McKean's parents, Niel and Noela Ensbey, rushed to Brisbane to be by their daughter's side that night.
