Kooyong success has Lleyton Hewitt fired up

AFTER dismantling three of the world's top 20 players on his way to his second Kooyong Classic, No.8 seed Janko Tipsarevic holds no fears for Aussie veteran Lleyton Hewitt in tonight's round one match-up at the Australian Open.

The 31-year-old beat Canadian world No.15 Milos Raonic, sixth-ranked Czech Tomas Berdych and seventh-ranked Argentine Juan Martin del Potro on his way to the title.

Hewitt, who has endured a series of tough first-round draws at Melbourne Park in his 16 consecutive appearances, said he had hit the ball as well as he could remember in the matches against Berdych and del Potro.

"I feel like all I can control is my preparation and doing all the right things.

"I've done absolutely everything in my power. I look forward to the challenge," he said.

After claiming his breakthrough ATP Tour final by beating Kevin Anderson in the Sydney International, fellow Aussie Bernard Tomic will have to wait until tomorrow to take on Argentine Leonardo Mayer in his first round match.

Two other Aussies are in action today, with John Millman playing Japan's Tastsuma Ito, and Matthew Ebden taking on Russian 23rd seed Mikhail Youzhny.
