Medal wins for cycling duo in Netherlands

AUSTRALIA has pedalled to two more medals at the Road World Cycling Championships in the Netherlands.

Competing in the U23 time trial over a 36km course, South Australians Rohan Dennis and Damien Howson finished with silver and bronze respectively behind Russian Anton Vorobyev.

Dennis, who went into the event as favourite after winning silver in the team pursuit at both the world championships in Melbourne and the London Olympics, finished 44 seconds adrift of Vorobyev.

Meanwhile Cycling Australia has had to find a replacement rider for Sunday's elite men's road race after Michael Rogers was forced to withdraw from the team because of a bout of tonsillitis.
