NADS up to challenge in grand final clash

THEY did it the hard way, but NADS took home the title of Warwick Volleyball Association Season One Men's Premiers on Monday night.

NADS won the first set 21-17, before Deadwood fought back to win the next two sets 21-16, 21-16.

Going into the fourth and what could have been the deciding set, NADS' experienced players shone, and played the complete game, strong serves and tidy work at the net to win the set 21-7 and the final fifth set 22-20.

In ladies Lesley Clayton for A Team controlled the game with perfect and accurate serves that WTF had no answer for.

A Team won the game 21-9, 22-20, 21-19.

No Pressure didn't let the pressure of a grand final get to them in the Mixed competition.

Vickie McMahon was unable to take the court due to injury, but No Pressure still played as a well-gelled team to take the title from KKs, who made the grand final after a five set nail-bitting semi against defending premiers Reloaded.

No Pressure won the first set 21-16, before KKs who were also missing player, Kerri Fitch due to illness, took the second set 22-20. The remaining two sets were won by No Pressure 21-11 and 21-18.

Association president Lisa Hemmings said season one had been a great success.

"Season two will start Monday, July 8," Hemmings said.

"We would love to see our continuing teams come back and we would love to see some new faces."

"Warwick volleyball is a very social competition, as long as you have fun and can laugh at yourself you will have a great time."

"If you are after a more competitive game the Men's competition is for you. Beginners and students are more than welcome to play in ladies or the mixed competition."
