Did you know that diabetes is Australia's fastest growing chronic disease? It is a common and potentially serious condition that can contribute to heart and kidney disease, gangrene, blindness and even death. It is estimated that one million Australians have diabetes and about half of those are not aware that they have the condition.

Living with Diabetes

While there is currently no cure for diabetes people that have it can still live an enjoyable life by learning about the disease and effectively managing it.  Adopting a healthy lifestyle of physical activity and a good diet is vital for everyone with diabetes. Diabetics must monitor their blood glucose and have regular checks. Medication in the form of insulin injections and tablets to control blood glucose levels may be necessary depending on the type of diabetes.
