Road trip is howling success for Toowoomba Wolves

TOOWOOMBA Wolves have finally broken their Gridiron Queensland duck with a 28-0 shut-out against the Bruins on Saturday.

The road trip to the Sunshine Coast proved a howling success with the junior Wolves also victorious 21-16 over the Spartans.

Wolves coach Mike McMillan said it was a great effort from every player to take the field.

"It's good to travel so far and have a win. The boys were pretty happy," he said.

"We had good numbers which was surprising. A couple of guys who said they couldn't make it actually managed to play.

"We had a few extra reserves so we were able to give our linemen a break."

McMillan said he hoped the victory would be the confidence boost the team needed to match it with the top sides.

"It was about getting our timing right and being able to run some plays we couldn't against better opposition," he said.

"The boys are more confident and can see the system works."
