RIDERS from three states won events at one of the two richest rodeos on the Australian Professional Rodeo Association circuit at Warwick on Sunday.

The three-day rodeo attracted 583 nominations, including 60 in the open bull ride and 50 in open saddle bronc.

Competitors who recorded wins at the weekend will improve their position in APRA standings and boost their chances of being in the top-15 for the National Finals Rodeo in June next year.

Prize money won determines finalists in all eight APRA open events for the season finale at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.

New Zealand cowboy Fraser Babbington won the open bull ride with a combined score of 165 from the first round and final.

He scored 81 in the first round for a tie with Rhys Angland for second place and 84 in the final for first place to win overall.

Other overall winners at the Warwick Rodeo were:

Saddle bronc - Brad Pierce (Oxley, VIC), 158

Bareback - Darren Clarke (Quirindi, NSW) 160
