School bus and car collide on hwy

UPDATE 3.30PM: Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious accident between a Warwick-based Crisps Coach and a car on the New England Highway north of Stanthorpe.

The coach is understood to have been transporting Assumption College students from Warwick who were attending a school athletics carnival at Stanthorpe, with the car believed to be occupied by students from Warwick State High School.

Reports from the scene are that the female student driver of the car is still trapped inside with fire and rescue officer cutting away the wreckage, but that two male students are now out of the vehicle.

None of the Assumption students on the bus are believed to have been injured although many were in shock after the impact. Those students have now been transferred to another bus back to Warwick.

The crash site is in the Braeside area, about halfway between Warwick and Stanthorpe.
