Slipper's media man to run for seat

THE servant may eclipse the master if Peter Slipper's former media advisor gains the Liberal National party pre-selection in the stood-aside Speaker's seat of Fisher.

The Sunshine Coast seat has attracted nine nominees, including high profile candidates Mal Brough, a former Howard Government minister and political strategist James McGrath.

But among the names fighting for recognition is Richard Bruinsma, Mr Slipper's former media advisor.

Mr Bruinsma confirmed he had put his hand up for pre-selection to the Sun-Herald, but declined to comment further.

Mr Slipper's seat has attracted a lot of attention from political heavyweights, as it is considered one of the safest conservative seats in the state.
