Snow falls on Granite Belt

NUMEROUS reports have confirmed that it was snowing on the Granite Belt this morning.

Snow has been reported in numerous locations, including the Granite Belt Dairy in Thulimbah north of Stanthorpe, just east of Stanthorpe on Mt. Tully Rd and at numerous locations in Eukey south east of Stanthorpe.

Stella Drake, wife of famous poet Jack Drake, has called to confirm their 3rd flurry of snow this morning at Eukey.

Minimum air temperatures in Stanthorpe this morning was 3.5 degrees and the ground temperature a chilly zero degrees.

Granite Belt Wine & Tourism Marketing Manager, Sarah Reeves said "It certainly changes our Primavera marketing plans for the next few days, but there is always an element of excitement when snow hits town - even if it is in the middle of Spring!"

"I hope that all visitors coming for the Vintage and collectibles fair, Robert Channon's Brass and Wine, lunch on the Green at Varias or Gardenfest remember to pack some winter woollies.  It seems Brass Monkey season has returned," she said.
