TAYLOR Swift has signed on to play Joni Mitchell in the much-anticipated movie adaptation of Sheila Weller's book Girls Like Us.

The tome chronicles the lives of singer/songwriters Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King, and Swift has been linked to the project for months.

Now Variety reports she has booked the role.
