Rangers have unbeaten run cut short by All Stars
TOOWOOMBA Rangers surrendered the lead in the race for the Luchterhand Shield and their unbeaten status this season with a 7-1 loss to All Stars today at Commonwealth Oval.
Rangers went into the round six Greater Brisbane League A1 game undefeated but weren't able to maintain that honour.
It was a tight, low-scoring game for most of it before All Stars scored four runs in a group and then added three more in the seventh inning to take the win and a 1-0 lead in the running for the Luchterhand Shield, which is a trophy played for over the season by the two clubs.
"It's disappointing to be one down in the Luchterhand Shield but we'll face them again," Rangers coach Darryl Luchterhand said.
"Hopefully it's the loss we needed. We had been a bit flat the last couple of weeks so hopefully this will get us going."
Shaun Clarke threw six innings but the Rangers offence couldn't provide the run support needed.
