RUGBY LEAGUE: St Mary's coach Dave Carr rated the defence of Taegan Inmon as one of the high points of his side's victory against a combined St Joseph's School/Glen Aplin State School team in ARL Development Cup competition at Father Ranger Oval yesterday.

St Mary's scored six tries and kicked two conversions in a comfortable victory.

Carr said he was happy with the spirit the game was played in by both sides.

"There was a low percentage of dropped ball," Carr said.

"The highlight for me was using some players who don't play club footy and using them away from their regular positions."

St Mary's has qualified for the Super Eights Gala Day at Clive Berghofer Stadium later this month.

St Joseph's/Glen Aplin coach Dave Fleming rated Hamish Cole as his best player.

Before the game, Fleming stressed four things.

"Tackle low, run straight, play like good sportsmen and most importantly have fun," Fleming said.
