A TYPICAL engagement ring-in-a-Champagne glass proposal holds no appeal to Flight Lieutenant Cinda Lyons.

Where's the element of danger?

This RAAF Operations Officer would rather her man propose to her while serving their country in a foreign war zone, decked out in uniform with service weapons at their sides.

Thankfully for Cinda, she has a partner in RAAF Ground Defence Officer Michael Fox, who can make all those dreams come true.

Michael proposed to Cinda in an Allied compound in Kandahar last month on a brief visit to Afghanistan while serving in the Middle East.
