WARWICK Police apprehended a suspect on the main highway through town after a foot chase.

Uniformed officers and detectives were observed in pursuit of a young male in his early twenties in the vicinity of Albion and Fitzroy sts around 2pm.

The fugitive entered several private yards and was observed jumping over a fence near Shane's Boats Bikes and Performance, before being located and restrained by officers in the yard of a nearby residence facing the highway.

He was placed inside a police vehicle and transported to the Warwick station a short time later.
