SWIMMING: The Warwick Swimming Club expects 100 swimmers to compete on Sunday in the annual McNamara Sprints at WIRAC.

Club president Neil Vickers said the carnival would be the biggest for the season for the club.

"The main events will be the skins sprints which will be held after lunch between the top-10 boys and girls placegetters in age group 50 metre freestyle races,” he said.

Skins starts with 10 swimmers and numbers are progressively reduced in races until the top three will meet in the final. There is only two minutes between races with the bottom two or three eliminated in each of the preliminary races.

Vickers said he hoped 30 swimmers from the Warwick club would compete in the carnival along with visiting swimmers.

"We have a lot of new members this season and the majority are training in squads under Andrew Fidge,” he said.

Doors open at 8am Sunday with racing from 9am.
