Severe weather still expected

DESPITE Warwick only receiving 10mm up until 9am yesterday the Bureau of Meteorology has warned severe weather could still be on its way.

DESPITE Warwick only receiving 10mm up until 9am yesterday the Bureau of Meteorology has warned severe weather could still be on its way for the Southern Downs and Granite Belt.

The bureau has predicted areas of heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms with some localised flash flooding expected, associated with the heavier falls during the next few days.

“An upper level low should move across southern Queensland during the remainder of the week, producing widespread areas of rain, isolated storms and gusty winds from southern districts across to the central coast and central highlands districts,” a bureau spokeswoman said.

“The surface trough along the southern Queensland coast is expected to deepen over the next day or so.

“Daytime temperatures will be a minimum of 13 degrees.”

She said pedestrians and motorists should take every measure to be safe during the wet weather.

Carrs Lookout recorded the heaviest falls in the region, receiving 36mm up until 9am yesterday.

The State Emergency Service (SES) hotline received 10 calls for assistance and general advice following heavy rainfall across south-east Queensland.
