Drunk truck driver fined $1500 in court

FORMER truck driver David John Morrison was yesterday fined $1500 in the Warwick Magistrates Court after he was caught behind the wheel of a semi-trailer earlier in the month with a blood alcohol reading of .234 per cent.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol for the June 8 offence.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Ken Wiggan said 45-year-old Morrison was reported to Warwick Police after another motorist made a complaint in relation to the manner the semi-trailer was driving through Aratula.

Warwick Police intercepted Morrison in Albion Street about 7.40am.

The Warwick man's license has also been suspended for 16 months, and he subsequently lost his job as a result of the offence.
