AUSTRALIA'S Emmy Award nominees, headed by Simon Baker, Rose Byrne and Toni Collette, will be feted with Aussie wine and beer on the eve of this weekend's ceremony.

Australia's six nominees are expected to attend the invite-only party at the Los Angeles residence of Australian Consul General Chris DeCure on Saturday.

They are expected to be joined by 30 other high-profile Australians on US television including Portia de Rossi, Rachel Griffiths and Julian McMahon.

The Emmys take place in Los Angeles on Sunday (Monday AEST).

The pre-Emmy party, staged by Australians in Film, an organisation for expatriate Australians in the entertainment industry, has become a tradition on the eve of television's night of nights.

Baker, for his hit TV show The Mentalist, Byrne for Damages and Collette for United States of Tara, are all strong chances for Emmys.

The three other Aussie Emmy nominations are Battlestar Galactica director Michael Rymer, the effects wizards from digital entertainment company Hoodlum for their work on Lost, and Scott Hicks' documentary Glass: A Portrait of Philip in Twelve Parts, which has been nominated for sound editing.

The party is being co-hosted by Protea Group International, the business management firm that is a major sponsor of Australians in Film, and the A-list guests will enjoy South Australian wines from Woop Woop and The Chook, Coopers beer, Hornitos Tequila and Effen Vodka.

Woodhouse chocolates will be offered to guests not too concerned about squeezing into their tux or gown for the Emmy ceremony.
