WARWICK State High School students Mark Ferdinand and Matthew Carey have been honoured with selection in the Australian Vikings futsal team for a youth boy's “Centre of Excellence” Tour to Brazil.

Neither student will tour but national selection is recognition of the outstanding potential of the pair in futsal.

They played in the 16 years South Queensland School futsal team in the National School Vikings Football Championships in Albury during the recent school holidays.

South Queensland played against teams from Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Country Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania, New Zealand and Victoria.

Carey was top scored for South Queensland with 17 goals.

Ferdinand, who plays in defence in futsal, received a trophy for making the All Stars team, the top five players at the championships.

Away from futsal, both star in football for the Toowoomba Raiders colts team. Carey received the golden boot award as his 20 goals was the most for the Raiders and second most in the Brisbane colts competition.
