THE Queensland Police Service Annual Statistical Review was yesterday handed down, with drug offences topping list of offences reported in the past 12 months.
State-wide crime rates were down by an average of three per cent during 2008/09 and down 26 per cent since 2000/01.
Of the notable figures in the Warwick Police District, 293 possess dangerous drugs, 22 supply dangerous drugs and 301 other drugs offences contributed to the total of 639 drug offences.
There was just one attempted murder offence reported during the 12-month period, however, there were 115 serious assault and five grievous assault offences in the Warwick district, which includes Stanthorpe.
There were 74 breach domestic violence orders.
Also of note, there were 214 fraud offences reported, including 64 cheque, two credit card, six computer and 142 other frauds.
A total of 302 unlawful entries were reported, with 93 dwellings being affected – 87 without violence and six with violence.
Of the shops in the Warwick Police District, 36 were unlawfully entered.
There were 545 other theft offences reported (excluding unlawful entry), with 172 of these thefts from vehicles.
There were 45 shop-stealing offences as well as 42 thefts from dwellings and 286 other stealing offences reported. Of the 214 fraud offences reported in the 2008/09 period, 179 of these were cleared as well in the same reporting period.
Of the 302 unlawful entries offences reported in 2008/09, just 87 of these were cleared.
There were 10 rape and 42 other sexual offences reported in the 2008/09 period, of which a total of 45 were cleared in the same 12-month period.
Interestingly, there were only three armed robbery offences and a total of 10 stalking incidences reported in the 2008/09 period.
In this same timeframe there were 29 life-endangering acts.
