THE global financial crisis may have put paid to some people’s plans for an overseas holiday but they can console themselves this weekend with a jaunt to foreign lands.

Go around the world in three hours, courtesy of the Killarney School of Dance.

Audience members will whiz around six continents while tapping in to the ambience of 31 nations.

Spectacular costumes bring to life the mood of each country.

Watch the elegance of the Japanese geishas in the older girls’ ballet, and continue in the Orient with dances representing China and Thailand.

Take a jazzy trip to Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Caribbean, with stopovers at Mexico and Hawaii.

Visit Antarctica with an ethereal performance by the pre-intermediate contemporary dance class and stay in the Antipodes with a New Zealand ballet and Australian musical theatre number.

Europe beckons with senior tappers embracing Irish-style dancing, while others take audience members to The Netherlands, England, Sweden, Spain, Malta and Italy.

Step behind the former Iron Curtain with an energetic Russian jazz performance and elegant dances from Hungary and Estonia.

Head further south on the globe with stopovers at Egypt, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Principal Hanneke Taylor said she was delighted to present the Internationale Showcase 2009, which involved 230 dancers, from three years up, in genres of ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop.

“Our All That’s Australian concert last year was extremely well received and I’m sure our Internationale Showcase will excite audiences just as much,” Mrs Taylor said.

“We’ve all worked extremely hard to ensure the show is enjoyable for the audience.”

The first of three performances will be held in Warwick Town Hall from 6.30pm tomorrow

Another evening performance will be held from 6.30pm Saturday, with a matinee from 1pm Sunday.

Tickets (adults $18, children $12) are still available from the Warwick Town Hall foyer.
