MORE than 10,000 Queensland school students will undertake an annual youth road safety program that aims to reduce death and injury amongst young people on our roads.

R-Y-D-A, or RYDA, is a road safety education program targeted at 16 and 17 year old Queensland school students in the initial stages of obtaining a driver licence.

Consisting of six interactive sessions, the program covers a broad range of topics including hazard perception, stopping distances, fatigue and the cost and responsibility of owning a car.

All sessions provide must-have information to prepare young drivers before they get behind the wheel of a motor car.

Sponsored by Suncorp Compulsory Third Party Insurance, this Queensland first will educate more than 10,000 students about road safety every year.
