A BOWLING performance of 4-13 by Lachlan Campbell secured a last-round win to cap an outstanding inaugural fixture season for the Inglewood cricket team.

Despite securing the minor premiership in A-grade last weekend, Inglewood maintained its form to also deny Warwick Hotel Colts a finals chance.

Going into yesterday’s round, Maryvale-Condamine was in fourth place, three points in front of Colts. To make the finals, Colts had to win and hope Maryvale lost to Wheatvale.

Maryvale lost but Colts couldn’t secure the win it needed.

In the game on the Queens Park turf, Inglewood batted first to score 8-182, Darren Apted top scoring with 65 before being run out.

Lachlan Campbell made 43. Off spinner Donald Miller was the best of the bowlers with 2-39 off 10 overs, including the wicket of his brother Garth.

In reply, Devon Maher made 59 and Donald Miller 28 but no other batsman passed four in a score of 110.

Campbell received best support with the ball from Neil McCosker and Garth Miller who each took 2-29.

Figures of 4-9 off nine overs by Paul Cantwell secured a Wheatvale win against Maryvale at Slade Park.

Batting first, Maryvale was dismissed for 117, opener Mark Steketee top scoring with 21.

Wheatvale scored the required runs with three wickets in hand.

Chris Malone hit 45 and Adam Cummins 29. Andrew Ryan was the best of the bowlers with 4-15 off five overs.

On Sunday, Inglewood and RSL Diggers meet in the major semi final at Slade Park. Wheatvale and Maryvale play off in the minor semi at Queens Park.
