Wesley Uniting Church Indoor Bowls Club president Marg Wilkie with new life member Mabel Mott.
IT is the friendships formed and the challenge of the game which has kept Mabel Mott going to weekly Wesley Uniting Church Indoor Bowls Club fixture days for 50 years.
Mott was presented with a life membership by club president Marg Wilkie on Wednesday during afternoon bowls at the Williams Hall.
She is patroness of her club and the Warwick Indoor Bowls Association and has been club captain for 30 years.
Wilkie said the life membership was only the second presented by the club in its 55 years.
“Our criteria is that life memberships must be for meritorious service,” Wilkie said.
“Mabel did the applications for a grant from Jupiters Community Benefit Fund for a new bowls mat and four sets of little bowls.”
The other life member, founding member Joyce Pointon, was an apology at this week’s life membership presentation which was attended by 25 members.
Mott has won a number of club singles titles and two Warwick association singles courts but admits she was still learning the game.
