A PRISONER has escaped from a low-security prison farm in north Queensland.

Luke Robert Crisp, 27, was reported missing from the farm facility adjoining the Townsville Correctional Centre at 7am (AEST) on Friday.

A Department of Community Safety spokesman said the absconder was last accounted for at a 4am head count.

"A search of the area failed to locate him," the spokesman said.

"He was serving four years and seven months for break and enter offences."

He is described as 175cm tall, weighing 60kg, with brown eyes and hair with a dark complexion and a moustache.

He has Chinese symbols tattooed on his upper arms.
