Massive effort: Warwick Cowboys treasurer Liz Browne, secretary Garry Hanson, Harold and Jean Byrne and Cowboys president Greg Carey get together after the Sinclair Byrne Benefit night.
WARWICK Cowboys Rugby League Club president Greg Carey hopes the amount of money raised to help Sinclair Byrne passes $20,000.
While $18,000 was raised at the Sinclair Byrne Benefit last Saturday, donations are still coming in which has brought the amount of money raised to $19,250.
“We had a $1000 donation from Stanthorpe this week, which was left with Border Rugby League president Steve McEvoy at the YMCA,” Carey said.
“There is still some money to collect from the $12,000 made at the auction. We hope the figure raised passes $20,000.”
Sinclair’s brother Harold said he looked forward to his brother coming home and watching the rugby league and polocrosse from the wheelchair which the money would buy.
“Sinclair likes looking at everything going on when we take him downstairs at Princess Alexandra Hospital,” Harold said
“He was always at the footy even when he wasn’t playing and loves watching Cody and Morgan (sons) in Collegians games.”
Mrs Byrne said on behalf of her husband Tom and their family, Sandy, Cody and Morgan, she wanted to express her gratitude for all the support last Saturday.
More donations can be left at Carey Brothers Meats, in Locke Street, or at the Stanthorpe YMCA.
