Rain pushes up minimum temps

ISOLATED showers, afternoon storms and generally cloudy conditions should push our winter temperatures 10 degrees above usual this week.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Vikash Prasad said a series of upper troughs would keep the wet weather around until Sunday.

“Top falls in the next 24 hours should be between 10 and 15mm,” Mr Prasad said.

“During the next three or four days Warwick can expect to receive between 20 to 30mm in total.

“However if you are under an afternoon storm today or tomorrow you may be fortunate enough to get more.”

The upside of the overcast conditions will be a 10 degree rise in both our overnight and maximum daytime temperatures.

Mr Prasad said the average monthly minimum for Warwick this time of year was just three degrees.

“Under the cloud cover we expect overnight temperatures to be between 13 degrees and nine degrees until Sunday,” he said.

“While our daily maximums should be around 19 to 23 degrees.”

However don’t go packing away the overcoats and heaters just yet.

Mr Prasad said a return to wintry conditions was forecast from Monday onwards.

“The cloudy conditions should clear on Sunday, so we would expect an overnight minimum of about four degrees to start the week,” he said.

“Then temperatures should drop back to zero degrees on Tuesday morning and then one degree on Wednesday.

“So we would anticipate frosts in low lying areas around the Warwick region.”
