Bike club to host Frostbite Rally | Warwick Sport | Local Sports in Warwick

Queensland Historic Motorcycle Club Warwick members Glen Reid and Gary Smith, with the Glen McGrath-signed cricket bat and an historic motorbike, are eager for the Frostbite Rally.

MOTORCYCLE enthusiasts from the Southern Downs have a chance today to view some of the oldest bikes in Queensland when the Historical Motorcycle Club of Queensland, Warwick area, hosts its Frostbite Rally.

The riders will be on the road in the Allora, Warwick, Yangan and Tannymorel areas at the weekend, but all 60 rally participants will be at the Southern Downs Railway Precinct in Hamilton Street, Warwick, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm today to enable members of the public to view these fantastic motorcycles.

“There will be a public choice vote on the motorcycles at the railway precinct,” Warwick area chairman Gary Smith said.

Riders will sell tickets at the railway precinct for a raffle to win a cricket bat autographed by Glenn McGrath.

Money raised in the raffle will go towards the McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurse program. Prizes for second and third in the raffle are tool sets.

Club member Glen Reid said the McGrath Foundation supported Sherry Phillips, a breast care nurse based at the Warwick Hospital who covered Warwick and Border areas, including Millmerran.

“Riders will also take time out for a six-a-side charity cricket match at the weekend,” he said.

Each motorcycle will be timed in the competitive rally at the weekend.

Motorcycles from all eras will take part in the Frostbite Rally, including veteran bikes up to 1918, vintage bikes from 1919 to 1930 and historic bikes from 1931 to the 1960s.
