SWIMMING carnivals can bring out the competitive side in many and, for Marlie O'Shea and Siggy Walsh, it was also an excuse to bring out the war paint.

Dressed in red capes and scarlet lips, the pair flaunted their Cameron clan spirit at the Scots PGC swimming carnival yesterday.

"The best part is dressing up," Siggy said.

One competitor, Jacob Lawrence, said the day was about participation and having fun.

"I'm a runner so I'm not very good at swimming, but I give it a go," he said

"It's a pretty good day."

Principal Michael Harding said it was a day enjoyed by all.

"It's a fun day for students and staff and the competition between the clans is really strong so any opportunity to play sport against their mates, they just love it," Mr Harding said.

"Everyone gets to participate and enjoy the day."

But it was Mackay that took out champion clan, with 1066 points.

Leslie came in second with 1020 points, Macinnes with 984 and Cameron brought up the rear with 980 points.

The day's events included an inter-clan relay which was won by Cameron in the girls division and the Leslie boys took out first place in their race.

Age champion awards were presented to 10 students, from each age division.

Teacher and swimming co-ordinator Brooke Dwan congratulated all students who participated and thanked them for a fun day.

"The day ran smoothly and we had lots of participation and a good turn out," she said.

"And congratulations to the age champions."
