Allora Heritage Weekend hits top gear
EVERY highway, road and track will lead to Allora this weekend for the annual Allora Heritage Weekend.
For two full days the showgrounds will be transported back in time with historic machinery and vehicles of the past century.
This year there will be a huge display of all British and American tractors, British cars, Mack trucks, Southern Cross engines and early American motorcycles.
There will be plenty for spectators to soak up over the two days, with vintage and veteran cars and trucks, antique and historical machinery, motorcycles, horse-drawn machinery, country music and bush poets.

52 games of cricket
GAMES will be played in Maryvale, Killarney, Allora and Warwick in the annual Condamine Sports Club Australia Day Cricket Carnival in Warwick. For the first time, games will be played at the home of the Warwick Redbacks, Warwick Credit Union Oval. Dave Drewery has prepared a turf wicket for the weekend and it will be tested by up to 120 overs of cricket on Saturday. There will be 33 T20 games tomorrow and 19 on Sunday. Results tomorrow will determine the draw for Sunday. The top-eight will play on the four established turf wickets in semis early Sunday. The other 16 competitive teams and nine social teams will play a game each on Sunday. The two leading social teams after Saturday will play in a final on Sunday morning. The semi-final winners with the biggest winning margins will play the grand final at 1.30pm Sunday at Slade Park. A T-SHIRT Hack Day isn't a lot different to a normal hack day other than the clothes. The members of the Warwick Hack and Pony Club had an end-of-year party at a dam late last year and will be allowed to wear the same casual clothes tomorrow at the Warwick Showgrounds. Twenty members of the club are expected to compete tomorrow but members are expected from many clubs in the region and well as individual nominations from people with an interest in hacking. WARWICK residents are invited to celebrate Australia Day with a sausage sizzle at Warwick Bunnings in support the SES tomorrow. The fundraiser will run from 9am-4pm at the Palmerin St store, with family activities, footpath art and a variety of games and entertainment on offer in store. Warwick SES team members will attend with a variety of equipment on display, and can answer any enquiries. Funds raised will go directly to support the Warwick group. Bunnings Warwick store manager Debby Stevens, said the fundraiser was a terrific way for team members and all Australians to show their appreciation for the wonderful work done by emergency services volunteers. The fundraiser is part of a nationwide Bunnings initiative to raise funds for volunteer emergency services. FOR many, Victoria Park is the park opposite the hospital, for others it is the home of the Warwick Bridge Club.
This Sunday, it will be the venue for a street orienteering event.
There will be distances for all standards and fitness levels. New orienteers welcome.

THE Warwick parkrun starts 7am Saturdays rain, hail or shine.
It is only the Warwick Pentath-run each May that necessitates a change.

Trip through history for Australia Day
TAKE a trip to Nobby with Southern Downs Steam Railway this Australia Day.
Climb aboard the historic 1960s diesel locomotive for an adventure day trip to Nobby.
Enjoy a lunch at the famous Rudd's Pub, a tour of the Sister Kenny House and go gift shopping at the old Nobby railway station-turned-museum for craftwork.

Welcome to visiting backpackers
SOUTHERN Downs Regional Council and representatives from the agricultural industry are welcoming backpackers and celebrating the fruit and vegetable season for the Granite Belt.
Celebrations start at 7pm today with a sausage sizzle and juice provided at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre.

History beckons locals and visitors
