10 things to do around Warwick this weekend
HEAD off to a cultural celebration or enjoy one of the many sporting events happening around Warwick over the next couple of days.
1. Indigenous celebration
THE Maryvale Bunya Festival is coming to the Southern Downs this weekend.
The festival is about recognising and re-constructing the histories, cultures and ideas of Aboriginal people, as well as bring people together on country for a fun, informative experience.
Tomorrow features music, art, a live native animal show and ecology walks, with the highlight of Sunday an extended guided walk in local bushland. Overnight camping is available next to the festival grounds.

2. Emergency day
THEY are there for us when we need them the most, and this weekend you can get a further insight into the efforts of our leading men and women.
The Emergency Services Day is being held in Allora tomorrow, with everybody welcome to attend.
Patrons get the opportunity to meet local heroes from the State Emergency Service, firefighters, police and paramedics and community group leaders, as well as the chance to witness the latest high-tech emergency equipment and vehicles.

3. Cricket finals
THE Condamine Cup competition is heating up as we head into the business end of the season.
Wheatvale and Redbacks will battle it out in the preliminary final tomorrow.
Redbacks claimed a victory over Colts last weekend to keep their season alive, while Wheatvale will be looking for redemption and a final's berth against Maryvale.

4. Ride 'em Cowboys
AFTER claiming the Barrett Shield last weekend, the Warwick Cowboys are looking to end their pre-season on a high tomorrow.
Three grades will be in action at Father Ranger Oval in the final hitout before the start of the Toowoomba Rugby League season.
C-Grade will host the Stanthorpe Gremlins as they prepare for their move from the BRL, with reserve and A-grade taking on Kyogle.

5. Drags rev up action
THE smell of burning rubber in the air can only mean one thing...the drags are back in town.
Warwick Dragway plays host to an exciting two days of fast-paced action.
Featuring the Blown Outlaws, Xtreme Sedan and pre-1978 Nostalgia Street, there promises to be something for everybody.

6. Aussie Rules returns
WHEN the Cardinal Cup is held, you know Australian Rules is just around the corner.
The Redbacks Football Ground will host the 11th annual staging of the event, featuring visiting teams from Goondiwindi, Ipswich, Jimboomba and South Toowoomba.
This year will also mark the first staging of the women's Cardinal Cup. A bar and food will be available at the ground, with the presentation on Sunday afternoon.

7. Wattles payback
THEY put up a spirited fight against the Warwick Cowboys last weekend, and will be looking for a positive result this time around.
Wattles will welcome Southern Suburbs to Platz Oval tomorrow as they conclude their preparations for the TRL.
All three grades will be in action with the pride of Clifton and Allora take on the resurgent Tigers side, buoyed after saving their season under a fortnight ago.

8. Karaoke time
CAN you belt out a tune like Mariah Carey, hit high notes like Celine Dion or spit game like 50 Cent? Karaoke with Dude is for you. Every second Saturday, the party kicks off as amateurs, professionals and everybody in between gets on stage and has a ball.

9. Get up and run
WARWICK Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning, with runners of all ages getting up early and having a go.
Autumn might be upon us, but the cooler weather isn't an excuse to miss this superb 5km run, encompassing many beautiful sights of the town.

10. Little athletics
COMMONWEALTH Games action kicks off next month, and the next Matthew Denny or Sally Pearson could be right here in Warwick.
Little Athletics takes place at Hamilton Oval each Sunday as the young stars of the future get out and have fun.
