10 things to know before going to the rodeo

A HUGE weekend of rodeo and campdraft excitement lies ahead, so here's all the essential information needed to make the most of it.

1. Basic rundown

Warwick Rodeo and Gold Cup Campdraft is held at the Warwick Showgrounds on Kingsford St.

Action starts at 6am today and tomorrow, but at 5am on Sunday.

Bars shut and entertainment stops at 1am each evening.

2. Parking arrangements

There is no parking available on site at the showgrounds and sections of Kingsford Dve and Palmerin St have been closed off.

It's best to park behind Warwick Town Hall or at Australiana Park and catch the shuttle bus.

There is also a taxi and bus drop off point at gate one.

3. Shuttle buses

Today, buses will depart every 15 minutes from Australiana Park from 5-8.30pm. They will depart half-hourly from 10am-noon tomorrow and every 15 minutes from 12.15-9pm. On Sunday, they will depart every 30 minutes from 10am-3pm.

From the Warwick Library, they will depart every half-an-hour from 5.15-8.45pm today, 10.15am-9.15pm tomorrow and 10.15am-3.15pm on Sunday.

Returns will run on demand today and tomorrow from 10pm-2am from the park and library, as well as 3.30-5.30pm on Sunday.

4. Be weather proof

Get ready for four seasons in one day, with boots and a jacket, as well as a hat and sunscreen.

But as long as there's less than two feet of water in the arena, the show will go on.

5. Good value

Family passes are valid for two adults and three children under 18 this year, costing $50.

Adults cost $25, students and pensioners $15 and children under 14 years $10.

You can buy tickets online or at the gate.

Unaccompanied minors under 12 will not be admitted.

6. Leave some stuff at home

There are a few items that people can't take into the showgrounds.

These include alcohol, glass bottles or containers, professional cameras (except media pass holders) and weapons.

Management reserve the right to search any bags and refuse entry.

7. Wear pink today

Today there will be a fundraiser for prostate cancer at the showgrounds called Tough Enough to Wear Pink.

Cowboys and cowgirls will be wearing pink in support of the Classic Ladies Foundation.

You can participate through an online auction and raffle at the grounds today.

8. Cowboy church

Visit church differently this Sunday by listening to a cowboy pastor.

Trey Johnson will be hosting church at the Douglas Feez Pavilion from 8am and everyone is welcome, but cost of admission to the showgrounds does apply.

9. Get in on social media action

There are heaps of hashtags you can use to add to the social media frenzy around the rodeo and campdraft.

They include #warwickshowandrodeosociety #warwickqld #warwickgoldcup #warwickrodeoqueen #warwickrodeoqueen2018 #campdrafting #warwickgoldcup #apra #australiasmostfamousrodeo #greatnorthernbrewingco #canningdowns #thisisqueensland #southerndownsqld #officialwarwickrodeoandcampdraft #prydeseasifeed.

10. Get cash out

There are ATMs available on-site that you can use to get some cash, as well as heaps of great vendors that are worthy spending a few dollars with.

There's food, clothing and more on offer so take some time away from the arena to check them out.
