$10,000 to battle home-grown violence leaves mayor chuffed

THEY may not have won the title, but Mayor Peter Blundell was extremely happy to raise almost $10,000 in the CEO Challenge.

Cr Blundell said the CEO Challenge was a nationwide campaign that asked CEOs and community leaders to take action to help prevent domestic violence in families and communities.

Cr Blundell attended the CEO Challenge's special judging in Brisbane last Friday when it was revealed Sue Rallings, an adviser for Morgans Financial Limited, had won the event by raising more than $70,000.

"It was a great night, meeting the other racers and comparing notes about fundraising ideas and awareness raising," Cr Blundell said.

"I'm proud to have participated and during my speech congratulated my CEO Challenge working party.

"I also announced that I'm handing the baton on to David Littleproud, the immediate past president for the Warwick Chamber of

Commerce, to take up the 2014 CEO Challenge for the Southern Downs.

"I had already made inroads with the Chamber of Commerce, talking to members about a number of small businesses working together to implement the CEO Challenge workplace program. This program helps businesses support women who may be experiencing domestic violence and ensuring that support mechanisms are in place.

"I'm pleased the good work of the CEO Challenge will continue in our community next year," he said.
