JUMPERS AND JAZZ: 15 years of fitting trees into jumpers
Now in its fifteenth year, the Jumpers and Jazz in July festival has witnessed the decoration of Warwick's deciduous trees develop into a remarkable exhibition, attracting thousands of visitors.
Close to 100 trees in the CBD were decorated which made the competition extremely tough for this year's judge, Robyn Dennis who immediately accepted the job.
"It took me two seconds to reply with my answer when Karina offered it to me," she said.
Every participant carefully plans each creation and Warwick Art Gallery director Karina Devine said every entry was a stand out piece.
"Each year the trees get bigger and bigger and so does the artwork along with it," Ms Devine said.
Someone who knows this too well is this year's Hall of Fame recipient, Margaret Armstrong who has decorated the same tree since the beginning of the festival.
For 15 years Mrs Armstrong has decorated the tree outside of the entry to Rose City Shoppingworld.
"The first year the trees were just planted and was only as thick as my arm," Mrs Armstrong said.
The local art enthusiast volunteers her time at the gallery when she can and said the festival was her favourite time of the year.
"I love everything about Jumpers and Jazz, how it grows each year and the friendships it makes in the community," Mrs Armstrong said.
Her tree this year, Cat's Rule, represented her cat as the ruler of the household and how she couldn't find anything more relaxing than falling asleep to the sounds of his "contented purring".
