'17 karting season to start at Sandy Ck on Sunday
HORSEPOWER with Gerard Walsh
THE Warwick Karting Club starts its 2017 season with round 1 of the club championships on Sunday at Sandy Creek Raceway.
Competitors will practice tomorrow and racing is on Sunday.
The club has an average of one meeting a month and is always happy to attract more drivers.
Anyone interested can go to the track tomorrow, free admission, and asked to discuss the possibilities with club officials.
St Mary's day
THE St Mary's School Warwick race day will be next Saturday, February 18, at Allman Park.
The school will use the event as a fundraiser and it is expected the number of patrons at the races will rise dramatically with the involvement of the school.
There will be $800 worth of prizes for fashions on the field for men, women, boys and girls.
Entertainment is planned for the children and, by the way, there will be some horse races as well.
Warwick Turf Club nominations have been strong in recent months and that should again be the case next week.
THE Warwick District Sporting Car Club is finalising work on the re-surfaced track at Morgan Park Raceway and racing will resume on March 18-19 with super sprints. The new surface will be a boost to all competitors but especially the bike riders who may ride at more than 200kmh.
