$2000 donation gives Yangan Tennis Club a shot
YANGAN’S busy progress association has served the small town’s tennis club a generous donation.
The $2000 donation will go towards fixing lights at the Yangan tennis courts.
Yangan and District Progress Association president Colin Pope said the money was raised at events such as the treasure hunt and truck pull.
“As the end of financial year approaches we had some excess money, so we decided to make a donation to the tennis club,” he said.
The progress association also donated $1500 earlier this year to Yangan teen Alyvia Greene-Galloway, who is heading to Cambodia to work with underprivileged children.
Yangan Tennis Club treasurer Val Wilkinson said the donation would help the little club keep going.
“Our little club has been going for many, many years,” she said.
“We have a lovely court here we got about 15 years ago.”
Mrs Wilkinson said the upgrade to the lights would be a big boost to the club.
“It’ll allow us to play tennis here at night again,” she said.
The Yangan Tennis Club plays socially on a Monday morning, and new people are always welcome.
The courts can also be hired by visiting the Yangan Cash and Carry.
