2nd-round success

THE Peter Ferdinand-coached Warwick State High School 16 years girls futsal team made the second round of the 2011 South-east Queensland Championships.

Warwick High fielded four years in the championships at Cornubia.

The 16 years team win three of its four games to make the knockout rounds which were held a week later at Mt Gravatt.

Warwick High went down 3-2 in the second-round game to be eliminated from the competition.

Ferdinand has coached virtually the same team since year eight.

“They are improving each year,” he said.

“The girls work well together as a team.”

Mel Hagenbach was the new player in the 2011 team.

The 16 years team will compete at a competition in Toowoomba next month when teams will be selected to represent South West Queensland at the nationals in Brisbane in September.
