48 hours of sport on the Southern Downs
48 LINES IN 48 HOURS with Gerard Walsh: Two teenagers were the best in the Warwick Davis Shield cricket loss to Toowoomba at Heritage Oval on Sunday.
Mitch Bourke scored 19 to top score in the Warwick 85 and Caleb King took 1-14 off four overs to impress with the ball. Captain Dave Walker took two wickets but he was keener to heap praise on Caleb.
Warwick did well to take five Toowoomba wickets.
In Mitchell Shield, Stanthorpe went down to Lockyer in the final.
It is always a tough road trip to Lockyer and Stanthorpe captain Ben Staley put the difference between the two sides down to the tight Lockyer bowling. Jordan Lanza and Duane Lihou were the best for Stanthorpe.
The two representative finals end both competitions for the players from the Southern Downs with the winners Lockyer and Toowoomba going on to Slade and Falconer Shield finals
There was orienteering at Allora, a golf open day in Warwick and plenty more sports action on a hot weekend on the Southern Downs.
