Family gives ultimate gift

THERE’S one Southern Downs man who was reported to dance with glee when he received an apparel of a salmon hue.

Rather than socks and jocks, Barry Brown’s family opted to gift the 70-year-old not just any pink jumper for his birthday last week.

Daughter Selena Griffin said the family banded together for the ultimate National Rugby League team Penrith Panthers’ supporter kit.

“We organised a pink panthers’ jersey signed by all the players,” she said.

“It took him a while to realise what it was but, as soon as he did, he danced around with joy.

“Some of the players even got on the phone and chat with Dad.”

The birthday bash was celebrated at Massie Hall at Allora, the traditional land of the Brown’s family known as the Kambuwal people.
