Adopt-a-Family hamper donors judged amazing

THE Warwick Red Cross team have been amazed at the level of community spirit shown by Southern Downs residents in this year's Red Cross Adopt-A-Family appeal, with many ringing to adopt a family before the list was even published.

Red Cross project co-ordinator Joanne McKinnon said the community had become more aware of the people in need.

"Each year we are blown away by how generous the community is," she said.

"The spirit within the schools has been fantastic as well.

"It is all coming back to the meaning of Christmas, which is giving without receiving or expecting anything in return," she said.

This year there are 32 families from across the Southern Downs up for adoption.

All the hampers and gifts can be dropped off at the Red Cross building on Guy St.

Ms McKinnon said it was important that all the hampers were dropped off by December 9, ready for delivery the week before Christmas.

For more information on the appeal or to adopt a family, phone the Red Cross office on 4661 9916 and ask for Jodie or check the ad on the left.
