Around 14% still undecided says Vote Compass

APN NewsdeskAROUND 14% of the million people who completed the ABC's Vote Compass questionnaire said they were undecided ahead of Saturday's election.

Vote Compass, launched on August 4, has given people the chance to see where their views fit on the political landscape.

Figures released this week showed about one in eight Vote Compass respondents remained undecided about who to vote for.

Of the more than 176,000 people in this category, 37% indicated they were leaning towards Labor, 27% were leaning towards the Coalition and 17% towards the Greens.

ABC analysis of the data showed undecided voters were typically younger, less politically engaged and more likely to be female than those who had a decision locked in.

Also this week, Vote Compass revealed the most left- and right-leaning seats in the country.

The Queensland seat of Maranoa, held by the Liberal National Party's Bruce Scott, was found to be the most right-leaning seat in the country according to the data, while Deputy Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's inner-city Sydney seat of Grayndler was the most left-leaning.

Interestingly, Queensland seats made up the 11 most right-leaning federal seats in the country, including Capricornia which the Labor Party has held since 1998.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's seat of Griffith was found to be the most left-leaning in Queensland, but well down the overall list in 37th place.

The Vote Compass graphic illustrating the political leanings of each seat showed Griffith was almost smack bang in the centre.
